The Living Room (TLR) is a drop-in and program delivery centre that provides free, confidential, practical and support services to people living with and/or closely affected by HIV/AIDS. TLR is a safe, supportive and accepting environment for people to come together and build community.
Services and Programs include:
- Support and Advocacy: Individual and Group offered
- Health Promotion and life skills information sessions/workshops
- Crisis support
- Referrals to health and social services
- Legal clinics and workshops
- Housing support
- Prison phone support
- Peer-led support groups such as Survive to Thrive, African-Caribbean Women’s Support Group, Youth Group and Harm Reduction Group
- Population-specific socials for gay men, women, children, straight men and the francophone community
- Monthly community kitchens
- Nutritional meals during socials and support groups, as well as holiday dinners
- Practical services include access to food bank, laundry machines, internet and computers, phones, fax/photocopying, subsidized YMCA memberships and harm reduction supplies
- Learning Centre where people can access online tutorials and workshops on various topics
- Complementary therapies such as massage and reiki
- Fun activities like summer BBQs, movie outings etc.
